reporting.figure_identity

Cold, catalog-backed identities for plotting capabilities and their consumers.

The generated package resource is metadata only. Looking up a callable never imports its producer, constructs a figure, or retains a bound builder instance. CAP identifies reusable code; FIG identifies a related visual definition/result.

1.1 Classes

Name Description
FigureConsumer One authored consumer location, not proof that the route executed.
FigureResultIdentity One exact sealed result; empty CAP links preserve unknown provenance.
PlotIdentity Immutable producer identity and explicitly declared visual relationships.
PlotIdentityError A failed metadata lookup, with a machine-readable failure reason.

1.1.1 FigureConsumer

reporting.figure_identity.FigureConsumer(
    source,
    symbol,
    kind,
    output_key=None,
    line=None,
    end_line=None,
    figure_handle=None,
)

One authored consumer location, not proof that the route executed.

1.1.2 FigureResultIdentity

reporting.figure_identity.FigureResultIdentity(
    snapshot_sha256,
    result_id,
    figure_handle,
    source,
    capability_handles,
    consumers=(),
)

One exact sealed result; empty CAP links preserve unknown provenance.

1.1.3 PlotIdentity

reporting.figure_identity.PlotIdentity(
    capability_handle,
    source,
    symbol,
    visibility,
    output_key,
    figure_handles,
    consumers,
    output_keys,
    output_figures=(),
)

Immutable producer identity and explicitly declared visual relationships.

output_key selects a semantic view from output_keys; it is never a filter value, scene identity or epoch. Consumers are authored/static links, not evaluated thesis-inclusion receipts. No scientific payload is retained.

1.1.4 PlotIdentityError

reporting.figure_identity.PlotIdentityError(reason, message)

A failed metadata lookup, with a machine-readable failure reason.

1.2 Functions

Name Description
figure_identity Resolve one CAP/FIG handle, failing when a FIG has multiple producers.
plot_identity Resolve exact defining callable metadata without evaluating the producer.
result_identity Resolve exact sealed result lineage, without guessing a producer.
source_identity Resolve an exact source-qualified adapter, including scripts/notebooks.

1.2.1 figure_identity

reporting.figure_identity.figure_identity(handle, *, output_key=None)

Resolve one CAP/FIG handle, failing when a FIG has multiple producers.

1.2.2 plot_identity

reporting.figure_identity.plot_identity(producer, *, output_key=None)

Resolve exact defining callable metadata without evaluating the producer.

Bound methods, inherited methods, class/static methods and partials normalize to their defining function. Explicit wrapper bindings take precedence over transparent __wrapped__ lineage; cycles fail. Classes resolve only their own binding, never all their methods. Callable instances resolve the exact class __call__ implementation, not a guessed class capability. Captured state and bound arguments do not create new plotting identities.

1.2.3 result_identity

reporting.figure_identity.result_identity(snapshot_sha256, result_id)

Resolve exact sealed result lineage, without guessing a producer.

The build-time projection uses the existing verified report-bundle reader. A matching result-local name from a different snapshot is a different key; empty capability links remain explicit unknown scientific provenance.

1.2.4 source_identity

reporting.figure_identity.source_identity(source, symbol, *, output_key=None)

Resolve an exact source-qualified adapter, including scripts/notebooks.

Explicit source bindings are the supported path for unstable __main__ names and semantic wrappers with copied callable metadata. No fuzzy source or nearest-class fallback is performed.
